چکیده

The knowledge of the rheology influents involved in dry anaerobic digestion is an essential factor for process optimization. Despite this fact, it difficult to characterize rheological behaviour these with high total solid (TS) content. Indeed, standard methods measurements are poorly adapted because sliding effects observed during measurements. In study, we used a non-standard method, Vane geometry, its particularity limit effects. Two types were carried out on potato 18–35% TS, extracted from digesters. first measurement was submit sample rising shear velocity ramp 0 200 s−1 at 37 °C and 55 °C. results show good correlation between rheograms Herschel-Bulkley model deduced pseudoplastic threshold behaviour. second performed oscillations 10 Hz 25 °C, different evolutions elastic G′ viscous G″ modulus as function temperature. There crossing greater than finally forming plateau characteristic gel. crucial design operating instructions reactors TS geometry would, therefore, be effective tool characterizing digestion.

Modeling of Anaerobic Digestion of Complex Substrates

A structured mathematical model of anaerobic conversion of complex organic materials in non-ideally cyclic-batch reactors for biogas production has been developed. The  model is based on multiple-reaction stoichiometry (enzymatic hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis), microbial growth kinetics, conventional material balances in the liquid and gas phases for a cyclic-bat...

Evolution of Rheological Characteristics of High-solid Municipal Sludge during Anaerobic Digestion

Rheological characterization of high-solid sludge is a fundamental requirement for optimizing the mixing and transport of high-solid sludge during anaerobic digestion in waste water treatment systems. We investigate the time evolution of physico chemical properties and rheological characteristics of high-solid digested sludge with total solids (TS) 15–20 wt.% during anaerobic digestion. A serie...

Total solids content: a key parameter of metabolic pathways in dry anaerobic digestion

BACKGROUND In solid-state anaerobic digestion (AD) bioprocesses, hydrolytic and acidogenic microbial metabolisms have not yet been clarified. Since these stages are particularly important for the establishment of the biological reaction, better knowledge could optimize the process performances by process parameters adjustment. RESULTS This study demonstrated the effect of total solids (TS) co...
